Alexio’s headquarters are nestled inside the IBM Innovation Space in Markham,
ON, alongside many other leaders in the tech and educational sectors.
In 1999, Anne and Steve Genge founded a dental IT integration business helping dentists across the Greater Toronto Area. The business specialized in the design and implementation of computer infrastructure to run and manage electronic health records systems.
However, with the growing need for clinics to adopt digital infrastructure came an increased need to protect clinics against cyber-threats. With patient data now being stored digitally, hackers, viruses, ransomware and other cyber-attacks dramatically increased the need for a standardized and robust cyber-security solution.
Anne and her team created a new software solution specifically for small healthcare practices to provide enterprise-class cyber-security protection at a price affordable to the smaller network environment.
- They built Alexio, which offers multiple layers of security against threats and breaches.
- They integrated artificial intelligence into their software that allows a clinic to monitor threats 24/7.
- Recognizing that the front line of defense against cyber-crime is actually the humans using their technology, they also built robust training into their solution, and include it for free for all their clients.
Today, Alexio’s products safeguard dentists, doctors, clinics and other healthcare practices – helping protect millions of patient records across the country.
