Toronto, Canada (January 29, 2020) – Alexio Corporation is excited to announce their win at the Canadian SME National Business Awards last night in the ‘Best New Business’ category.

CEO Anne Genge and the Alexio team were nominated in two categories: for ‘Best New Business’ and for ‘Businesswoman of the Year’. Although Alexio has been serving clients in the technology industry for over 20 years, it is their new automated cyber-security solution for small businesses and healthcare practices that scored them the big win at the Canadian SME National Business Awards.

“It feels great to be recognized for our dedication to making cyber-security easy, available, and affordable for small businesses, including healthcare practices,” commented Genge.

“We have clients all over Canada, so winning a national award truly reflects our ability to bring data security to any business who needs us, no matter where or who they are. The security of personal information is a global challenge and we’re fixing that.”

The Canadian SME National Business Awards was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center on January 28, 2020, and featured awards in 23 different categories. Genge was presented her award by Jackie King from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and took a minute afterward to thank family, her co-founder, the Alexio team, and her loyal and supportive clients.

This is obviously important to us on a personal level, but more importantly, the world has a big problem with cyber-crime and it needs fixing fast. The security of sensitive personal information is in a terrible mess, and smaller businesses especially need help to protect it.”

The Canadian SME National Business Awards are “designed to recognize and applaud the contribution that small business owners provide for Canada’s economy.” In the case of Alexio Corporation, it not only has created jobs in Canada, it has also protected the investments, reputation and clients for hundreds of other businesses. By helping Canadian SMEs avoid online security and data privacy disasters, Alexio is a key contributor to the underpinning of a strong Canadian economy.

“Cyber-security is an exploding field, following the exponential growth of cyber-crime threats and ransomware events across the globe. In Canada as well, we’ve seen some scary examples, such as the recent Life Labs breach, affecting millions. That’s what keeps us going – helping educate Canadians on the risks of sharing their private information, and helping businesses to take immediate action to keep that information safe. We are grateful to Canadian SME Awards for putting a spotlight on this, and recognizing the work we are doing to fix it.

Alexio Corporation is a training and software solution specifically for small healthcare practices, and now small businesses, providing enterprise-class cyber-security protection at a price affordable to the smaller network environment. See https://getalexio.com/about-us-2/ for more information.
